VRS is a form of Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS) which:
1. allow people with hearing loss for the telephone system
2. allows deaf use American Sign Language, rather than traditional telephone (TTY) to call hearings on private phone lines ordinary
3. allows the use of high-speed internet connections combined with a web cam or video equipment for Conferencing Communications Assistant (CA) in call centers
4. depends on the CA to transmit information from one phone to hear their
5. also allows a hearing to establish a call to the deaf individual
FCC includes the cost of all VRS calls through the Interstate TRS Fund. Calls are free for all and deliver the CA, who is a professional, a qualified ASL interpreter.
The FCC mandated that the VRS is only used in situations where the individual would typically be deaf voice calls through the phone system was not because of defects. VRS can not be used as a substitute for live translators.
